Technology Platform to Democratize Alternative Asset Investing Raises Round Led by Jefferson River Capital and Moment Ventures
Alto, a Nashville based fintech startup that helps diversify retirement portfolios for alternative investments, today announced the completion of a $5.4 million seed round: Alto Completes $5.4 Million Seed Round to Put Alternative Investments in IRAs.
The round was led by Jefferson River Capital (the family office of Tony James, Executive Vice Chairman of Blackstone), and Moment Ventures, a Palo Alto-based venture capital firm.
Americans have more than $28 trillion of assets in retirement accounts (including $9 trillion in IRAs).
They’ve always been allowed to invest in alternative assets with IRAs, but only about one percent of assets were because complex paperwork and processes made it difficult and expensive.
Alto uses automated technology to distill the process to its simplest form, making it easier and more accessible for individual investors.
